Designated Gifts Policy

Donors to YFC Western Illinois, from time to time, desire to designate their gift to support a particular aspect, project, or location of our ministry. YFC Western Illinois gladly receives donations that support our mission and programs and is committed to honoring the intent of every gift as a sacred trust. To maintain transparency, accountability, and good stewardship, we accept designated contributions only for projects, ministry areas, or locations that have been approved and established by the Board of Directors.

Funds designated for a specific purpose shall be used in a manner consistent with the donor’s stated intent, and may not be redirected to an unrelated project, ministry, or location, even if an alternative use also serves the mission. If a donor wishes to contribute to a purpose outside of existing board-approved funds, the donor should discuss the donation with the Executive Director or a Board Member, after which the Board may approve and create a new fund to honor that purpose. In the event that a board-designated fund is completed, closed, or otherwise no longer active, any remaining balance may be reallocated only to another fund or project that closely aligns with the original donor intent, ensuring that leftover funds are still stewarded faithfully and ethically.

This approach protects donor intent, aligns with Christian principles of faithful stewardship, maintains compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, ensures financial integrity, eliminates legal and operational complications, and allows YFC Western Illinois to steward every gift in a manner that best advances the mission God has entrusted to us.
